Philadelphia Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Said Eagles Tried To Draw Pass Interference On Final Play

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni explained the intent behind the final play in the loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
In this story:

On the Philadelphia Eagles final drive against the Seattle Seahawks, quarterback Jalen Hurts took a shot down the right sideline to A.J. Brown, but it was intercepted and the game was over.

With Philadelphia only trailing by three points with timeouts to spare, there were many questions as to why plays weren’t drawn up to get into field goal range. Head coach Nick Sirianni shed some light on the play call, and what the goal of the play ultimately was.

"At times there, we've seen you can get a pass interference there," Sirianni said. "It was what it was on that particular play, but if you get a pass interference call there, and if a teams giving you a one-on-one shot. Very similar to what happened on the other side of the ball, they ended up getting a one-on-one shot that had some different things there. We had a one-on-one shot against the Rams. And you can get a pass interference and now you're in a position to kick it. We have some of the best receivers in the NFL outside so there's times when you're gonna do that."

Hurts finished the game with two interceptions, moving him to a career-high 12 on the season. Both of the interceptions were to Seattle safety Julian Love on deep throws.

It wasn’t a particularly effective day for the Eagles’ passing game, as the two leading receivers were Brown with five catches for 56 yards and DeVonta Smith with five catches for 50 yards. Philadelphia was unable to take advantage of a Seahawks secondary that was missing Devon Witherspoon and Jamal Adams for the game, passing for just 143 yards against the depleted unit.
