Eagles 'Rare' Dallas Goedert: Same as Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews?
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert has firmly established himself among the most dynamic talents at his position.
Throughout five seasons, Goedert has elevated his status to be mentioned alongside superstars such as Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, and George Kittle.
And in a recently-published ESPN article featuring rankings from over 80 executives, coaches, and scouts, Goedert secured the No. 4 spot among the top 10 tight ends. Though he still has tons to prove to reach the star-studded status of Kelce - who basically belongs in his own tight end tier - Goedert has shown he belongs in the conversation with Kittle and Andrews despite being one elite year from potentially passing them up.
Goedert's NFL peers and league-wide onlookers praised his ability to be an all-around tight end.
"Probably the most well-rounded of all the tight ends," an AFC scout said to ESPN. "He's probably one of few guys who ranks highly in every phase -- size, athleticism, speed and blocking make him rare."
Last season truly elevated Goedert's status to that of an elite-level tight end. He showcased his abilities in his first full year without Zach Ertz by tallying 55 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns across 12 games. His impressive average of 58.5 yards per game projected him to reach a total of 995 receiving yards had he not missed time due to injury.
Goedert's production becomes even more impressive when considering that he plays in an offense alongside elite receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, both of whom exceeded 1,100 receiving yards last season.
As the Eagles aim to rebound after their Super Bowl LVII defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs, the performance of Goedert will be vital. The team will heavily rely on Goedert to replicate his impressive play from last season and play a crucial role in pursuing a championship title this year.
