The Philadelphia Eagles are beginning to get back together ahead of a season that will come with some high expectations due to many reasons, one of the more recent being running back D'Andre Swift.

Swift was acquired by Philly via trade from the Detroit Lions on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft last month in a move that was one of the more significant for a draft full of trades. Now potentially set to be the team's starter at running back this season, Swift is taking the field with his new teammates for the first time as the Eagles continue easing into their offseason programs.

The Eagles lost Miles Sanders in free agency this offseason to the Carolina Panthers and appeared in the business of potentially adding another running back even after signing Rashaad Penny. But at least until the events of the draft unfolded, getting a Philly native like Swift via trade didn't seem to be in the cards. before general manager Howie Roseman worked his magic for a young and talented running back.

Swift dealt with multiple nagging injuries last season and enters the final year of his rookie deal, resulting in Roseman only giving up the No. 219 pick this year and a 2025 fourth-round pick in exchange for Swift and No. 249.

The Eagles are all too familiar with what Swift can do, as he rushed 15 times for a career-high 144 yards and a touchdown against Philly in Week 1 last season. The Eagles won that game 38-35 to jump-start an NFC Championship-winning season, but Swift had made a statement against a team that turned out to be one of the league's best.

Injuries hurt him throughout the 2022 season though, as he finished the campaign with 99 carries for 542 yards and five touchdowns while adding 48 catches for 389 yards and three more scores.

Along with potentially getting more touches, a continuous scent for the end zone could benefit Swift next season in an Eagles offense with multiple weapons.
