Eagles Release Jersey Numbers, D'Andre Swift Makes History

The running back will wear No. 0, making him the first in team history to use it after a rule change this year, suggested by the Eagles, passed in the offseason
In this story:

PHILADELPHIA – The numbers are in, and the newest members of the Philadelphia Eagles have theirs.

D’Andre Swift will wear uniform number 0. That makes him perhaps the answer to a future trivia question, as in, “Who was the first player in Eagles history to wear the No. 0?”

It will be the running back, acquired from the Detroit Lions on the third day of the 2023 NFL Draft for a 2025 fourth-round selection and a seventh-round swap of picks between the two teams in the recent draft.

Perhaps it’s appropriate that a Philly kid has the honor. Swift won back-to-back high school state titles while at St. Joseph’s Prep, just a few long blocks away from Lincoln Financial Field. Of course, it may also be temporary and someone else will wear it in 2024 because Swift is under contract for only this season.

The NFL is allowing the number 0 to be worn after passing a rules change during the offseason that had been recommended by Philly.

The two first-round picks, defensive tackle Jalen Carter and outside linebacker/edge rusher Nolan Smith, will wear Nos. 98 and 3. Receiver Zach Pascal most recently wore the No. 3 last season but has since moved on in free agency to the Arizona Cardinals.

The rest of the draft class’s numbers shake down like this:
