The outside narrative surrounding Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay has started to change this offseason, as many of his critics claim the 32-year-old is slowing down. Despite those critics who no longer see "Big Play Slay" as a difference maker, his NFL peers still respect him.

In the newest edition of the NFL's Top 100 players list, Slay made the cut yet again. According to players around the league, Slay is the No. 65 best player in the NFL. His ranking this season is an improvement from last season, where he was ranked at No. 77.

Slay's return to Philadelphia for a fourth season almost didn't happen this offseason over a contract disagreement. When the two sides originally failed to agree on a contract extension for the 32-year-old, the Eagles were prepared to trade or cut Slay. Yet, Slay was never moved off the Eagles' roster as the two sides later agreed to a two-year contract extension.

He is coming off a season where he made his fifth Pro Bowl after starting every game for Philly and totaling 55 tackles, three interceptions, and 14 passes defended.

Slay became the second Eagle to be revealed on this season's top-100 list, as the other was receiver DeVonta Smith. Smith, the former first-round pick, was the first player announced on the list this season, as he slid in at No. 100.

While just two Eagles on the list aren't enough, the NFL Network is set to continue releasing groups of 10 players every weekday, which means Philadelphia could have multiple players ranking inside the top 50.
