Former Eagles Defensive Coordinator Sean Desai Hired by Rams
Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Sean Desai was with the team for less than a year before his main coaching duties were taken away.
A few months following his dismissal from the City of Brotherly Love, Desai has now found a new home in Los Angeles. The 40-year-old has agreed to join Sean McVay's staff with the Rams in a senior defensive role.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN was the first to report the hiring.
Desai has been a defensive coordinator for just a single season for two teams. In 2021 with the Chicago Bears, Desai's group finished sixth in total yards allowed, and third against the pass.
After spending time in Seattle as a defensive assistant for a single season, the Connecticut native was hired by Philadelphia to replace Jonathan Gannon following a Super Bowl run and top-five finish.
Things didn't go so well, though for Desai in Philly. Reports of confusion in his scheme, and lack of confidence culminated in his defense finishing among the worst in football in yards allowed, and passing touchdowns. Desai was replaced by Matt Patricia late in the year following two blowout losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.

He was relieved of his role following the end of 2023 after the Eagles dropped six of their final seven games.
Now, after a difficult season of anonymous sources, and dysfunction in the locker room and executive office, it appears Desai has landed a comfy job with one of the smartest coaching staffs in football.
