The Eagles already feature one of the NFL's best coaching staffs, with Tyler Yelk adding years of coaching experience to the mix.

When you take your team to the playoffs in both of your first seasons as the coach, including a Super Bowl appearance in your second season, you earn yourself some benefit of the doubt.

This is where Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni finds himself after a seemingly unconventional hire was made. According to FootballScoop, the Eagles are bringing on Idaho safeties coach Tyler Yelk to serve as as assistant to the head coach with Sirianni.

While no news has been officially reported by the team as of yet, Yelk posted a pair of tweets on Thursday - the first being a thank you to Idaho fans and the second showing him changing his profile picture on Twitter to a picture of the Eagles logo.

Yelk has had a lengthy career in football, both as a player and coach at the collegiate level. He was named first-team all-NSIC/NCC twice for University of Minnesota-Duluth, ending his career as the program's all-time tackles leader and with a national championship after an undefeated 2008 season.

From there Yelk transitioned into coaching, and in his second season as an assistant coach in 2010 at Minnesota-Duluth became the first person to win a championship with the program as both a coach and player.

Before joining the Idaho staff, Yelk had a plethora of experience coaching at the collegiate level with stops including Western Illinois, South Dakota and Temple.

Now, he brings his years of experience to a talented Eagles coaching staff and hope to help them remain on top of the NFC.
