Philadelphia Eagles Host Dallas Cowboys Ex LB Anthony Barr for Free Agency Visit

The Philadelphia Eagles could be looking to sign former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Barr.

The Philadelphia Eagles hosted former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Barr for a free agent visit on Monday, per reports from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Barr, a four-time Pro Bowler, could bring valuable veteran leadership to the Eagles linebacker corps. At one time in his career, he was a star in the league, something that became apparent quickly after the Minnesota Vikings selected him at No. 9 overall out of UCLA in 2014.

In his nine-year career, Barr has played in 112 games while posting 553 total tackles, 18.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, 32 passes defended, five interceptions and one touchdown. His four Pro Bowl appearances came during four consecutive seasons from 2015 through 2018.

He signed a one-year deal with Dallas prior to last season, but the team ended up not re-signing him ahead of this season.

The Eagles recently placed linebacker Nakobe Dean on IR, and now could be addressing a position that was arguably the biggest question mark for an elite Philly defense coming into the season.

Philadelphia signed veteran linebackers Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham prior to the season. However, Jack's sudden retirement along with Dean's injury issues meant Cunningham and Nicholas Morrow have had to step up. Both have played well for Sean Desai's defense, but potentially adding an experienced player like Barr could help what's already a championship-winning defensive front.

Coming off their bye week, the Eagles (8-1) will pay a visit to Arrowhead to take on the Kansas City Chiefs (7-2) in a Super Bowl rematch on Monday, Nov. 20.
