Eagles Jalen Hurts Uniform to Pro Football Hall of Fame; Here’s Why

The jersey and pants worn by the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback in Week 14 last season are significant … so Jalen Hurts is “going to Canton.”
In this story:

Jalen Hurts has a long way to go before he can be considered for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He’s only been the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles for two full seasons. Obviously, more is needed on the resume for such an honor to take place.

If that day should ever come in, say, 2038 or so, he may find something familiar waiting for him.

The Hall of Fame announced that the jersey and pants Hurts wore in Week 14 when he ran for his 10th touchdown of the season will be placed in Canton.

The significance of that touchdown was that it made Hurts the first quarterback to post back-to-back seasons with at least 10 rushing touchdowns.

Hurts had 13 in 15 regular-season games then added another five in the three postseason games, including three in Super Bowl LVII.

In 2021, Hurts had 10 rushing touchdowns.

His ability to finish drives in the end zone with his legs is a big reason the Eagles set the NFL record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season this past year.

Including the postseason, Philadelphia ran for 39 touchdowns, breaking the record held by the Frankford Yellow Jackets, who had 38 in 1924, an era where the run dominated the game.

The Hall of Fame and Eagles quarterbacks are no strangers.

Nick Foles has several artifacts on display.

The touchdown pass he caught in Super Bowl LVII and his game-worn jersey from his MVP performance against the New England Patriots are there, as are the jersey and cleats he wore when he tied the NFL record with seven touchdowns in beating the then-Oakland Raiders on Nov. 13, 2013.

Foles has since said he would someday like the memorabilia back in order to give it to his kids.
