Eagles 2020 Draft Class Gets Improved Marks in Regrade
The worst-kept secret in the world is the Philadelphia Eagles swung and missed by taking wide receiver Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Still, one outlet has actually improved their original mark on the class general manager Howie Roseman drafted in 2020, despite Reagor only lasting two seasons with the Eagles.
CBS Sports originally gave the Eagles a grade of C+, but says landing quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round has forced an improvement the grade to a B+:
"I didn't like taking Hurts because they had Carson Wentz and I thought Hurts was a luxury pick. But that proved to be way off base. That's a big miss for me. I liked the pick of Reagor, which is bad, but said to keep an eye on K'Von Wallace, who has seven starts in his career. This is a good draft only because of Hurts, otherwise it's way below average."
Even if the Eagles had some concerns about Wentz at the time they selected Hurts, they certainly didn't envision 2020 being his final season with the team.
But while they passed up on Jefferson -- who has played at a Hall of Fame-caliber level for his first three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings -- if you nail the quarterback position in a draft, it's hard not to see it as a success. And given that most would take Hurts over Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love, both taken in the first round, the Eagles certainly hit the bullseye with the 53rd overall pick.
