Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts 'Learning and Growing' from New York Jets Loss
Ahead of Sunday night's big-time home matchup with the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts talked about learning and building on experience after a disappointing loss to the New York Jets in Week 6.
"Throughout my whole career, it's built upon different experiences and experience is the biggest teacher," Hurts said. "Whether it's experiences last week, two weeks ago or two years ago, whatever it was, it's just always learning and growing to be a better player and person."
Hurts had one of the poorest statistical games of his career, throwing for three interceptions in the loss to New York. The only other time in his professional career that he has thrown for three interceptions was a game against the New York Giants in 2021, also at MetLife Stadium. He finished that game 14-31 for 129 yards and the Eagles lost 13-7.
After that loss, he began a stretch of going 22-1 in the next 23 regular season games that he started in, which went all the way to the loss against the Jets, making him 22-2 in his last 24 regular season starts.
He didn't play as bad as the three interceptions suggest against New York, throwing for 280 yards and a touchdown while adding 47 yards and a touchdown on the ground. However, the one interception on the day that was actually Hurts' fault came with 1:50 left in the fourth quarter and Philadelphia leading 14-12, essentially costing the team the game.
Hurts and the Eagles will look to bounce back against Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday at 8:20 p.m.
