Eagles Win Over Vikings 'Shouldn't Have Been Close!’ - Jason Kelce
The Philadelphia Eagles sent the Minnesota Vikings packing with a second-straight loss as their take-home gift and kept the 34-28 win for themselves.
As selfish as that might seem on the surface, Eagles center and team captain Jason Kelce believes the team actually gave Minnesota more than they should have in terms of the margin of victory.
"(With) four turnovers that game shouldn't have been close," Kelce said following the win. "We should have won that handily with that many turnovers, I think everybody knows that.
"We still got a lot to improve on, on offense, but the first two games for the defense and generating (seven) turnovers now - that's huge. And if we can continue to have that, it's going to be very nice once this offense gets rolling."
Philadelphia turned four takeaways by its defense into just three points and actually gave the ball back on a Jalen Hurts interception just to take it back on the very next Vikings play.
While the Philadelphia offense hasn't gotten up to full speed yet the defense has been humming and on Thursday running back D'Andre Swift helped get the ground game rolling along with it.
Running the ball effectively all night Swift ended up with 28 carries and 175 yards on the ground adding six in the passing game and scoring one rushing touchdown.
After getting just two carries and one catch for zero yards in Week 1, it was quite the coming-out party for the new Eagles back.
He was so effective in fact that at one point in the second quarter, Swift got seven straight touches with six coming on the ground.
Later, as Philadelphia looked to lock away the win, Swift got heavy action again touching the ball seven times on an eight-play drive culminating with his only touchdown of the night.
That drive and score gave the Eagles a two-touchdown lead with just over four minutes left to play and undoubtedly helped secure the team's second win of the season.
