Eagles vs. Colts: Jonathan Taylor Controversy Preseason Move

The Philadelphia Eagles will be at the center of Jonathan Taylor's return to the Indianapolis Colts.

The Philadelphia Eagles will wrap up their preseason on Thursday when they host the Indianapolis Colts at Lincoln Financial Field.

From naming rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson the starter to the debut season for former Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen as Indianapolis' head coach, there's been tons of headlines to follow surrounding the Colts' offseason.

But none have been bigger than the drama surrounding star running back Jonathan Taylor, who requested a trade in July. He's been away from the team this preseason due to personal reasons, but will now be making his return to the Colts in a bit of a homecoming of sorts.

Steichen announced Sunday that Taylor will be making the trip to Philly with the Colts for Thursday's preseason action. Taylor won't play in the game, as he remains on the PUP list and has yet to practice or participate in any team activity since the end of last season.

This is a significant development in the Taylor saga, and comes at a coincidental time. While Steichen will be returning to Philly to face his old coaching staff, Taylor will be making a return close to his hometown of Salem, N.J., only about a 45-minute drive from Lincoln Financial Field.

It will be interesting to see the dynamic between Taylor, his teammates and the coaching staff if he decides to sit on the sidelines for Thursday's preseason tilt.

The Eagles and Colts kickoff at 8 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
