Eagles Host 'Highly Coveted' Georgia CB Kelee Ringo for a Pre-NFL Draft Visit

The Eagles seem to be taking a look at cornerbacks expected to be available late in the first round, where they own the 30th pick. And Kelee Ringo is coming to town.

Add Kelee Ringo to the Philadelphia Eagles’ pre-draft visitor list.

The Georgia cornerback is expected to meet with Philly at some point leading up to the start of the NFL Draft on April 27, per The Score’s Jordan Schultz.

Ringo, who is 6-2, 207 pounds, was a standout at the University of Georgia from the start of his career there, making 34 tackles with two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and one sack while starting the final 12 games.

Last year, he was second-team All-SEC with seven pass breakups, two interceptions, and 42 tackles. He started all 15 games in the Bulldogs’ run to a second straight championship.

Ringo, who is just 20, ran a 4.36 in the 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He is also scheduled to meet with the Raiders and Steelers, according to Schultz.

Ringo becomes the third known cornerback the Eagles are scheduled to visit with leading up to the draft and the second player from Georgia. The other two cornerbacks are Emmanuel Forbes and Julius Brents while the other player from Georgia is defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein wrote this report on Ringo:

“Boundary corner with an impressive blend of size and athleticism. Ringo is uniquely suited to travel the field and match talents against some of the bigger targets in the league. He can press and does a nice job of controlling plays in front of him from off coverages.

“However, he is very average at anticipating breaks and transitioning with them to squeeze the top of the route. His physicality in coverage and in run support are big assets in his favor, but there is still work to be done in consistency of coverage.

“Ringo’s traits will be highly coveted and he has a chance to become a very good NFL cornerback if his route recognition continues to develop.”

The Eagles brought back veterans Darius Slay and James Bradberry and agreed to a one-year deal with 25-year-old cornerback Greedy Williams, a former second-round pick of the Browns, in free agency.

It’s interesting that the Eagles are meeting with corners generally considered to be available late in the first round, where they own the 30th overall pick.

Cornerbacks considered top-10 talents, such as Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez, Illinois’ Devon Witherspoon, and Penn State’s Joey Porter, have not yet been scheduled for a visit to Philadelphia despite the Eagles owning the 10th overall pick.
