Eagles' Lane Johnson Details Daily Diet Consisting of '5,000 to 6,000 Calories'
If you keep track of your daily calorie intake, you have something in common with Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson. The similarities likely stop there, however.
Professional eater Dan Kennedy, nicknamed "Killer", recently visited with the Eagles and attempted to eat Johnson's daily intake of calories -- which he said ranges from 5,000-6,000 -- in 10 minutes. As you can imagine, an NFL offensive tackle eats more in one day than some do in three. Here's a look at what's on the daily menu for Johnson:
- Five scrambled eggs
- One avocado
- Three sausage links
- Two 12-ounce ribeyes
- One sweet potato
- Three yogurts
- Two protein shakes
- Two orange juices
- One bowl of "monster mash," which includes ground beef, white rice, bone broth, parmesan garlic salt
Amazingly, Kennedy ate the entire meal in less than 10 minutes. He estimated that Johnson's daily intake accounts for about six or seven pounds, and he believes he can eat up to 20 pounds worth of food/liquids.
Interestingly, Johnson added that the reason he's on such a specific diet is that he is given a weight range he needs to be within, and for every pound he's over -- and seemingly, the same thing applies if he's under the range -- he is fined $800. Now 33 years old, Johnson is listed at 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds.
Given how athletic Johnson is, one would think when his career is over, he could drop quite a bit of weight -- which would be beneficial for his long-term health -- with relative ease. Perhaps in his post-playing days, the two-time All-Pro will have to cut down to just one 12-ounce ribeye per day.
