Eagles Ex LeSean McCoy Reveals Contract Loss Over 'Avengers' Spoiler
As a player, LeSean McCoy was a force of nature, difficult for defenses to corral. As a shock-jock analyst for Fox Sports, "Shady'' remains difficult to reel in ... though he might have learned a lesson about outspokenness when his decision to offer up a movie "spoiler'' cost him an endorsement deal.
"Avengers: Endgame'' was the film, a 2018 blockbuster entry into the Marvel Universe. The outspoken McCoy -maybe not understanding the rules of this particular game, as moviegoers would like to see the end of the movie themselves without having a retired football player blurt it out to them via social media - decided to "express himself'' by tweeting a massive "spoiler.''
And, he is saying now, that decision cost him an endorsement deal as a result.
"Somebody must have called down from the high exec: (sign) Shady McCoy? No, no, no," he said. "He spoiled 'Endgame.'''
Again, though, it wasn't the "high exec'' that singularly targeted McCoy for his gaffe. Movie fans were upset as well.
"A lot of grown ups like green monsters running around, I didn't know," McCoy said. "I thought it was like, a regular 'Spider-Man.' I know now, though!"
Yeah, but ... even that comment made on a recent episode of the "Pardon My Take'' podcast demonstrates that he still doesn't get it. See, "Shady,'' if a customer is paying $14 to go see a movie - including "a regular 'Spider-Man'' - the customer also wants you to avoid spoiling the experience for him.
McCoy says that he was literally pen-in-hand moments away from the lucrative endorsement contract when the company pulled the rug out from under him.
"I was so mad,'' McCoy said. "That's a true story though."
