Philadelphia Eagles Lead Miami Dolphins at Halftime Despite Tyreek Hill's Late TD
While sporting their slick-looking Kelly Green throwback jerseys, the Philadelphia Eagles used an overall stout defensive effort and efficient offense to take a ()-() halftime lead over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field.
Philly used two second-quarter touchdown drives to take the 14-point lead as halftime approached/ Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts found tight end Dallas Goedert on a 19-yard catch-and-run touchdown before Hurts scored on yet another "Brotherly Shove" touchdown following a three-and-out from Miami.
But a last-minute 27-yard touchdown grab from Miami star receiver Tyreek Hill gave the Dolphins offense life right before the half.
Aside from that play and a 29-yard catch from Cedrick Wilson on 3rd and 18, the Eagles defense overall was able to corral Miami's explosive offense for most oft he first half. The Dolphins were held to -7 rushing yards and 113 total yards, though Hill had 65 of these yards on eight first-half catches.
Hurts finished the first half 12 of 15 passing for 143 yards and one touchdown to go along with the rushing score, though his turnover problems from Week 6 carried over into the first half on Sunday night. After leading the Eagles to an opening-drive field goal, he was sacked and fumbled on Philly's second possession of the game, which gave the Dolphins a short field for a tying field goal.
But this was one of the few miscues the Eagles had in a first half that served as an impressive response to last week's embarrassing loss to the New York Jets.
The Dolphins will receive the second-half kickoff.
