Final Piece: Eagles Select Texas Defensive Lineman Moro Ojomo in Seventh Round
With the No. 249 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected defensive tackle Moro Ojomo from the University of Texas.
Ojomo, 6-2 and 293 pounds, played 41 games for the Longhorns and collected 6.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. The Eagles mined gold in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft when they took another defensive tackle, Beau Allen from the University of Wisconsin. Allen was a key contributor on the Eagles' 2017 Super Bowl LVII championship team.
The pick of Ojomo culminated a dizzying array of trades, with general manager Howie Roseman making four of them. He made six overall during the course of three days, which led to him taking seven players in total.
Ojomo was the final selection last one and it came after the Eagles grabbed Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee in the sixth round, No. 188 overall.
You can view Ojomo's full scouting report on NFL Draft Bible, but here's a notable snippet.
He displays an array of hand combat moves, in addition to great strength. he certainly alerted scouts that he is capable of overcoming opponents due to his brute strength, as he packs a major wallop with his bull-rush.
He was moved up and down the defensive line during his Longhorns' career. He explodes off the line with good leverage and quickly engages his hands to beat offensive linemen to the punch.
