Eagles LB Nakobe Dean Set for Breakout Campaign in Year 2?

Pro Football Focus has included Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean on their "2023 All-Breakout Team."
In this story:

Once highly regarded as a first-round prospect from Georgia, linebacker Nakobe Dean endured one of the most recent draft-day slips, ultimately being chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

In his rookie season, Dean's playing time on the field was limited, resulting in him only seeing 34 snaps on defense. However, despite barely seeing the field, Dean's potential and traits have caught the attention of experts. As a result, Pro Football Focus has acknowledged his capabilities and included him in their "2023 All-Breakout Team."

Recognizing the potential for Dean's breakout season, PFF sees a golden opportunity before him. The departure of key players in free agency has opened up a clear path for Dean to seize a significant role on the Philly defense.

"With the departures of T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White in the offseason, Dean will have every opportunity to take over the middle of this Eagles defense as they attempt to return to the Super Bowl," PFF writes.

Edwards and White played critical roles in the Eagles' defense last season, contributing significantly to the team's journey to Super Bowl LVII. With their absence, Dean will have to step up and fill the void left by these two linebackers, aiming to ensure that Philly doesn't miss a beat on that side of the ball.

Training camp is now on the horizon, which holds vital importance for Dean. It'll allow him to acquaint himself with first-year defensive coordinator Sean Desai's new scheme and establish trust among veteran teammates. If Dean's preparations unfold as anticipated, he has the potential to lay a solid foundation for a prosperous long-term future with the Eagles.
