Eagles DT Jordan Davis Brings Out Jalen Carter's 'Best Behavior,' Says Insider

Jalen Carter is the type of player that goes against the philosophies of Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, but last year's first-round pick could potentially sway him.

Jalen Carter would seem to go against every principle Howie Roseman believes in when it comes to the NFL draft.

The general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles likes to draft players who are not attached to red flags.

Carter, considered one of the top-five players in this spring’s draft, has them.

Roseman likes players who have a passion for the game.

Carter’s has been called into question, with the knock being that he doesn’t give 100 percent effort on every play.

Yet, the belief is that the Eagles would run their draft card up to the podium if the Georgia defensive tackle is still available when Philadelphia is on the clock with the 10th pick of the draft on April 27.

There’s another school of thought that thinks Roseman may trade up for Carter if he gets past the Seattle Seahawks at No. 5, as the Chicago Bears could be ready to pounce on him if he is still there when they pick ninth.

But here’s why Roseman could be doing a 180 to his draft philosophies: Jordan Davis.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter went on the 97.5 the Fanatic in Philadelphia on Thursday morning and was asked about Carter.

“When you talk to people around that Georgia program, they say one guy that kept Jalen Carter in line was Jordan Davis and when he was around Jordan Davis he was on some of his best behavior,” he said.

Davis is a fun-loving player, who has said repeatedly how much he enjoys life, is considered a cornerstone of the Eagles’ franchise after Roseman traded up two spots to take him at No. 13 in last year’s draft.

For those wondering how much top-30 visits factor into a team’s decision to draft or not draft a player consider that Davis took three top-30 visits during last year’s draft process. One of those was to the Eagles. The other two were the Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Ravens.

Davis could be in Roseman’s ear about Carter, putting him at ease should he have the opportunity to select him with either the 10th pick or with a trade up the draft board.
