Eagles Draft Bijan Robinson at No. 10? 'Makes Sense,' Says Senior Insider

The veteran reporter believes the Philadelphia Eagles will take Bijan Robinson with their first selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Count legendary NFL writer Peter King among those who not only believe the Philadelphia Eagles will take running back Bijan Robinson at No. 10, but understands the logic in doing so.

In a conversation of Rob Kuestner of NBC 10, King explained why he believes it would be wise for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to select the star running back.

"Well it makes sense to me to take Bijan Robinson 10th overall because normally you wouldn't take a running back 10th overall, but Bijan Robinson is a total outlier this year among running backs," King said.

In his final season at Texas, Robinson rushed for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also hauled in 19 passes for 314 yards, and there's a belief that his ability as a pass-catcher could be further honed at the NFL level. So it shouldn't be surprising that outlets such as The Draft Network, NFL Media and The Athletic all have Robinson ranked among their top-five overall prospects in this year's class.

"He's a singular player," King said. "In fact, I would argue that there isn't a wide receiver or running back close to his versatile ability. Because on third down, I could see Nick Sirianni saying 'Wow, let's split Bijan Robinson out wide. We're not taking him off the field, even in five wide receiver sets.'"

If the Eagles select Robinson, he almost certainly won't have the same type of longevity as other successful first-round picks, such as Brandon Graham and Lane Johnson. But if Robinson has four elite years and potentially helps both Graham and Johnson get a second ring before their careers conclude, is that worth the No. 10 pick? King believes so.

"So, I think the one thing if you're the Philadelphia Eagles, is you want to maximize this time in your history," King said. "You've got a gift pick -- the 10th pick in the draft -- that you got by being smart in the draft last year in trading with New Orleans. So I think what you are right now if you're Howie Roseman is you're saying 'I want to do something to increase my chances of winning and getting to another Super Bowl.'

"I think of all the players Howie Roseman could pick 10th overall, Bijan Robinson increases his chances [the most], sometimes in the next three to four years, of getting to a Super Bowl."
