Are Eagles The NFL's Most Complete Team?
After barely coming up short in Super Bowl LVII, the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to run it back in 2023.
The Eagles' roster has undergone some changes during the offseason, but is still largely the same as last season. With that roster still being among the best in the league, the Eagles are firmly in the tier of Super Bowl contenders once again.
Some even have Philadelphia as the best team in the league, including NFL.com. The league's official website ranked the top 10 most complete teams heading into the 2023 season, and the Eagles sit atop the list.
"They came up just short in Super Bowl LVII, but there’s no reason to think the state of the Eagles’ roster isn’t as good as -- if not better than -- it was a year ago," NFL.com writes.
NFL.com highlights Philadelphia's firepower on offense. Not only do the Eagles have quarterback Jalen Hurts, the MVP runner-up last season, but they have a trio of strong pass-catching options in tight end Dallas Goedert and receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Having one of the best offensive lines in football also goes a long way.
On defense, NFL.com calls attention to Philadelphia's pass rush, which led the league with 70 sacks last season. The Eagles may have lost defensive tackle Javon Hargrave this offseason, but adding defensive tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Nolan Smith in the draft helps make up for that loss. The article also cites cornerback as another position of strength after the Eagles retained James Bradberry and Darius Slay this offseason.
However, the site also acknowledges that the Eagles aren't perfect. Some of their more uncertain positions include running back, linebacker and safety after losing key players at all three this offseason.
Even with those question marks, the Eagles have enough strengths to be arguably the most complete team in the league right now.
