Eagles Got Best Value Picks in NFL Draft? Daniel Jeremiah Weighs In
In the weeks leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, there were quite a few mock drafts that predicted that the Philadelphia Eagles would select Georgia EDGE Nolan Smith at No. 10.
So Howie Roseman and the Eagles were given quite a bit of credit when they were able to land Smith with the 30th overall pick.
In fact, NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah says that given that Smith was ranked at No. 13 on his big board and didn't go until No. 30, he believes he was the best value pick of the entire NFL Draft.
Across eight games in his final collegiate season, Smith had seven tackles for a loss, three sacks and a pass deflection. He's one of three former Georgia Bulldogs that the Eagles selected in the NFL Draft, joining defensive tackle Jalen Carter and cornerback Kelee Ringo. The Eagles also acquired former Georgia running back D'Andre Swift Saturday in a trade with the Detroit Lions.
In addition to the tremendous value they got in landing Smith, Jeremiah also says that defensive tackle Moro Ojomo -- a seventh-round selection by the Eagles --was one of the best value picks in the draft as well. The former Texas Longhorn was ranked 111th on Jeremiah's pre-draft big board, but didn't come off the board until the 249th pick. The 21-year-old had 5.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks in his final collegiate season.
