Eagles' Nolan Smith Reveals Unique Mindset: 'I Like to Eat Off The Floor'
Philadelphia Eagles rookie pass-rusher Nolan Smith is starving.
The former Georgia Bulldog recently spoke about a unique mentality he developed in college that he has brought with him to Philadelphia, one that sounds odd on the surface but has a deeper meaning that goes beyond football.
"You ain't never been hungry enough to think about eating off the floor have you?" Smith told reporters. "I'm talking about starving. That's the mentality that I got, I just like to eat off the floor. Coach Smart put that in our head."
Smith was drafted by the Eagles with the No. 30 overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. In his time at Georgia, he accumulated 11.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss while being an integral part of the Bulldogs' back-to-back National Championship teams.
He told a story of a time while he was at Georgia when a chef came in to talk to the team. The chef told them "you gotta want this shit as bad as you want to eat off the floor."
Smith is one of five former Bulldogs defensive players that Philadelphia has drafted in the last two years including Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, and Kelee Ringo.
General manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles are obviously fans of the mentality being taught at Georgia with how many players they have drafted over the past few years.
It's helped the Bulldogs win two National Championships. Now can it help Philadelphia win a Super Bowl?
