The Philadelphia Eagles are getting to work early in the first half of Thursday's preseason finale against the Indianapolis Colts at Lincoln Financial Field.

Eagles receiver Devon Allen is looking to secure a spot on the 53-man roster, and helped his case in a big way on the game's opening kick. After initially juggling the catch on the return, he made his way all the way to the Colts 27-yard line to cap off a 73-yard return.

Allen, a three-time U.S. national champion and two-time Olympian in the 110-meter hurdles, has an incredible athletic background. He attained a fourth-place finish at the 2021 Summer Olympics and at last year's World Championships. He's previously said he's the fastest player in the NFL.

"I definitely am," Allen said, per TMZ.

This return helped set up the Eagles for a short, 27-yard scoring drive. Eagles running back Trey Sermon is also looking to make the final roster, and received four carries on the seven-play drive. The final carry went for a one-yard touchdown to give Philly an early 7-0 lead after Jake Elliott's extra point.

The Colts ended up going three-and-out on their first offensive possession after being hurts by multiple penalties. The Eagles got the ball back and rookie quarterback Tanner McKee came in to replace Marcus Mariota for Philly's second possession.
