Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts Enters Bye Week Doing Something No Philly QB Ever Has

The Philadelphia Eagles aren't winning the way they want, but they're winning, and quarterback Jalen Hurts is entering areas of performance none before him ever have.

The Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) have the NFL's best record as they enter their bye week and are coming off three straight quality wins.

That's not to say the Eagles have been perfect by any stretch, but they've been effectively led by quarterback Jalen Hurts who is doing things no franchise passer has ever done to make sure his team stays on top. Hurts has completed more than 73 percent of his pass attempts in tree straight game, something that has never been done by a Philadelphia quarterback before.

"Accuracy is not only where you place the ball and the ball being complete, but also you going to the right place with the football," Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said.  ... "So, I think it's twofold, it's just him getting more and more comfortable with the plays that he's running and that he likes, and knowing where to go with the football (accurately) and going there in a timely fashion and doing so with good fundamentals and delivering the ball with accuracy. It's those two components and he's doing a nice job of that."

While he's been delivering most of his passes at a high rate these past three games, Hurts is also sending them deeper than he has for most of the season. In the last three, Hurts has reached yards per completion averages above 12 yards twice, something he did three times in the six games previous.

That means the majority of games played this season, Hurts is completing passes for first down-worthy yardage regularly, which has helped Philadelphia win despite experiencing bouts of red zone and turnover issues in several games.

"We've worked hard at that," Sirianni said of the red zone struggles earlier in the year. "Any time you're in the lower portion of the league in anything, it kind of pisses us off, right. We know we have to make strides to be the offense that we need to be."

The Eagles will look to improve in those areas during the bye week ahead of a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs (7-2) in Week 11.

And as long as Hurts is slinging the ball with accurately, to the right places, and for high-yard production, it's hard to argue with those that are confidently saying Philadelphia will continue to house arguably the NFL's best team today.
