Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Talks ‘Missed Opportunities' in Loss to Dallas Cowboys
On the Philadelphia Eagles' very first offensive drive of the game against the Dallas Cowboys, they drove down the field and looked like they were in a position to put points on the board early.
Instead, quarterback Jalen Hurts lost a fumble on a 10-yard run that was recovered by the Cowboys. Things didn't get much better from there as the Eagles put up an abysmal performance in Dallas, falling 33-13 on Sunday Night Football.
"Just the missed opportunities," Hurts said. "Taking advantage of our opportunities. We talk about executing every week and how important that is. I feel like we put ourselves in good position to get to the high red zone area many times, and we turned the ball over when we got there. I have to do a better job with protecting the ball and creating that energy for us. Just got to be better with that."
In addition to Hurts' lost fumble, both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith lost fumbles while Philadelphia was across midfield. The Eagles struggled offensively all night and failed to put up a touchdown on offense for the first time under head coach Nick Sirianni.
Hurts had a quiet night, going 18-of-27 for 197 yards while adding in 30 yards on the ground from five rushes.
Sloppiness and failure to execute seemed to be the trends for Philadelphia in the loss, as it was penalized 10 times for 95 yards and had just 17 first downs and zero points in the red zone.
