WATCH: Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Receives Master's Degree
Add college graduate to the list of accolades for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Months after leading the Eagles to the doorstep of winning the Super Bowl, Hurts received his master's degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma on Saturday.
This is the second of two degrees that Hurts received after earning his bachelor's in communication and information sciences while at the University of Alabama.
Hurts began his collegiate career at Alabama as a former four-star rated quarterback, per 247Sports rankings. Despite not winning the starting job outright as a true freshman at first, Hurts would be the starter for the Crimson Tide and lead them to two national championship games, going 1-1.
In the 2018 National Championship against Georgia, Hurts was famously benched at halftime in favor of Tua Tagovailoa, who led the Tide to a come-from-behind victory in overtime.
Despite seemingly losing his job to Tagovalioa in the championship game, Hurts decided to stay in Tuscaloosa and serve as the backup and earn his degree. That following offseason, the former Houston native transferred to Oklahoma, where, as the starter, he led the Sooners to a College Football Playoff appearance and would later become a second-round draft pick of the Eagles.
Crimson Tide and Sooner fans will endlessly debate which school gets to "claim" him, but for Hurts, he can now say that he earned a degree at both schools, therefore making him a member of the Tide and Sooners.
Since losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Hurts has been busy. The fourth-year pro successfully signed a market-setting contract extension with the Eagles before finishing his master's degree. It won't be long until Hurts is back on the practice field for the Eagles as they begin OTAs.
