The Pittsburgh Steelers have pried yet another member away from the Philadelphia Eagles front office.

The Steelers are expected to hire Eagles area scout Jim Ward, according to a report from 93.7 The Fan's Colin Dunlap.

In 2017, Ward became a member of the Eagles scouting staff full-time, serving under the guidance of Andy Weidl, who is currently the assistant general manager for the Steelers. Initially working as a team consultant, Ward was appointed the Northeast Area scout in 2018. However, he transitioned to the Midwest region in his scouting responsibilities in 2020.

Ward has strong connections to Pittsburgh, as he resides in Jefferson Hills about 45 minutes outside Steel City. He played college football at Slippery Rock, where he excelled and earned three all-conference selections. Before college, Ward showcased his talent at Steel Valley High School in Munhall, where he played high school football. After his college career, Ward joined the San Diego Chargers but subsequently found himself playing in the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League for a few years.

Since 2022, Ward has become the third ex-Eagles front office member to join the Steelers. This trend began when Weidl accepted the position of assistant general manager in May of last year. Casey Weidl, his brother, followed suit by transitioning from Philadelphia's scouting director to Pittsburgh's scouting coordinator in July 2022.

While the exact title for Ward has yet to be confirmed, he will probably assume the role of an area scout for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This speculation arises from the recent announcement of Matt Gorscalk, a highly regarded area scout for the Steelers, who revealed his departure from the organization last week.
