Eagles Sign Kelee Ringo, Lock In Draft Class

Kelee Ringo join the rest of his fellow rookies from the Philadelphia Eagles' seven-player draft when the team reports on July 25

PHILADELPHIA – There was no way the Philadelphia Eagles were going to begin training camp without all their draft choices in place and ready to roll, so with less than 10 days left until players begin reporting on July 25, they made sure there would be no stragglers, signing fourth-round selection Kelee Ringo to a four-year contract on Monday.

All seven picks are now set to begin their pro careers without any contract hassles.

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter, the team’s first of two first-round picks, was the first to sign his contract, doing so on May 4, a day before the team’s rookie minicamp.

The Eagles traded to the top of the fourth round to select Ringo, making him the third overall lick of that round when they sent a third-round pick to the Arizona Cardinals in next spring’s draft for the opportunity to take the 6-2, 207-pound cornerback.

“Obviously, you have to be in a position where you'd feel like whoever you're going to take at that pick was worth your third-round pick next year, but we felt really good about the position we were in before we started the draft,” said Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.

Indeed, Ringo can now begin to try to separate himself from a crowded cornerback room that features veteran starters Darius Slay and James Bradberry. Also vying for time on the corner are Greedy Williams, Josh Jobe, Mekhi Garner, Mario Goodrich, and Eli Ricks.

Ringo, who just turned 21 on June 27, recorded four interceptions, along with 15 passes defended, and a forced fumble, over the last two seasons while helping the University of Georgia win back-to-back national titles.

He was an All-SEC freshman selection, a season that was punctuated by a 79-yard pick-six of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young in the national title game that sealed the Bulldogs’ victory.
