With the No.6 6 pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Illinois safety Sydney Brown.

Brown is the fourth player to be selected by the Eagles, and now joins a draft class that features Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter, Georgia linebacker Nolan Smith, and Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Steen.

You can view Brown's full scouting report on NFL Draft Bible, but here's a notable snippet.

"He started in ten games where he played both safety and nickel where he made fifty-five tackles and an interception on the season. He increased his playing time in 2019 to eleven games and was named by the coaches to All-Big Ten third team and had an impressive eighty-eight tackles and three interceptions. His Junior years in both 2020 and 2021 he made an impact, but 2019 was his most impactful season but will be a tremendous secondary player for his future team."

The Eagles safety room was significantly impacted by the departures of Marcus Epps and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. This offseason, Epps signed a two-year $12 million contract with the Raiders and Gardner-Johnson signed a one-year $6.5 million contract with the Detroit Lions. Brown will fill a glaring need for the Eagles and looks to become their long-term starting safety.

The Eagles will be back on the clock Saturday, beginning with the 219nd overall selection which will be the second pick in the seventh round.
