Eagles Ex Terrell Owens 'Misremembering' Infamous Fight, Says Hugh Douglas
After a span of 18 years, it appears that the relationship between two iconic Philadelphia Eagles figures remains unresolved.
Receiver Terrell Owens and defensive end Hugh Douglas, both involved in a notorious locker-room altercation during the 2005 season, are now utilizing their respective media platforms to share their sides. The incident led to Owens' indefinite suspension and subsequent release from the team.
During a recent Fubo Sports episode, "Getcha Popcorn Ready with T.O. & Hatch," Owens resurfaced the long-discussed subject. He shared insights about his infamous 2005 altercation with Douglas when the defensive end was an ambassador for the team.
"It was just me just really just standing up for myself man," Owens said. "I was in the training room, getting treatment. Why would I be trying to skip practice, that's not even in my DNA."
However, when Douglas responded to Owens on his radio show '94WIP Middays with Hugh Douglas and Joe Giglio', he presented a different account of the altercation.
"I have always applauded his work ethic and the way that he handles his business... But it's amazing how T.O. is misremembering—I'm not going to call him a liar. But he is misremembering the story. T.O. said something to me first. I wasn't even in the training room." Douglas said.
If Douglas and Owens had found a way to be civil in the same place of work, it could have potentially led to Owens staying in Philadelphia, with a strong possibility of cementing his status as the most prominent receiver in franchise history while helping lead the franchise to what at the time would've been Philly's first Super Bowl title.
