Eagles Trade for Broncos TE Albert Okwuegbunam: Details
PHILADELPHIA – It’s not Jonathan Taylor, but the Philadelphia Eagles made a trade with just about 20 minutes until the trade deadline of Tuesday at 4 p.m.
The Eagles are bringing in a tight end, sending a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Denver Broncos for Albert Okwuegbunam and a seventh-round selection.
This marks the third trade the Eagles have made involving their 2025 picks, dealing away picks in that draft to acquire running back D'Andre Swift from the Detroit Lions and, last year, safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson from the New Orleans Saints.
Okwuegbunam is a former fourth-round pick of the Broncos (118 overall) in 2020 from Missouri.
He tore an ACL halfway through his rookie season but has made 54 receptions for 546 yards and four touchdowns in 26 games over three seasons with seven starts.
The fact the Eagles brought in another tight end is a bit of a surprise, though there are always surprises on cutdown day.
This year, the Eagles already parted ways with 2020 fourth-round pick K'Von Wallace, last year's punt returner Britain Covey, and Trey Sermon, a running back they kept on the 53-man roster.
With the addition of Okwuegbunam, the Eagles could be poised to keep four tight ends on their final roster - and Dallas Goedert, Josh Stoll, Grant Calcaterra.
The final surprise would've been the Eagles finding a way to acquire Taylor, the 24-year-old running back for the Indianapolis Colts. But he will begin the season on the PUP list.

The Eagles will now look toward their Week 1 matchup with the New England Patriots on Sunday, Sept. 10 at Gillette Stadium.
