LOOK: Eagles Reveal Week 3 Uniforms vs. Buccaneers
The Philadelphia Eagles will don their white uniform tops with white pants, white socks and Midnight green helmets for their Week 3 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced on social media.
Monday evening will mark the second time this season that the Eagles have worn the white-on-white uniform combination. The Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 25-20 in Week 1, wearing the same combination for the victory at Gillette Stadium. For their Week 2 win over the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia rocked their Midnight green uniform tops with white pants.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay plans to wear their "Buccaneer red" jerseys with white pants and pewter helmets on Monday Night Football. Given that it can still be very hot in Florida in September, it's mildly surprising that the Buccaneers didn't opt to wear their white jerseys, which would have forced the Eagles to go with the darker midnight green tops. Perhaps that's less of an advantage for a night game, but the Eagles -- not accustomed to the heat in Florida -- are probably pretty thankful to be wearing their white uniforms.
Of course, Eagles fans are impatiently awaiting the return of Kelly green, which the team is slated to wear as an alternate for the first time this season since 2010. Philadelphia plans to wear the popular throwback uniforms on two occasions this season, in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins and Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills.
In the meantime, the Eagles will sport their white-on-white uniforms in Week 3, as they look to knock off the 2-0 Buccaneers and move to 3-0 themselves on the young season.
