Eagles vs. Baker Mayfield: 2 Injuries for Bucs QB in Playoffs?
The Philadelphia Eagles are in no position to have sympathy for anyone else's injuries - whether they be of the physical nature or kind of just "bruised egos'' and "hurt feelings'' (if you get our Eagles locker room drift) - but it is worth some Philly attention be focued on what's going on at QB with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“I got a little ankle injury,'' Bucs QB Baker Mayfield is now revealing. "One of those things, as the week goes on (I'll) feel better and better. Good rehab work done on it, see how it goes.''
Mayfield also happens to be dealing with a rib problem, and of course part of this is simply the nature of late-season NFL football. But ...
The 11-6 Eagles, losers of five of their last six to close the regular season, will take every break available against the 9-8 Bucs as they prep to travel to Florida for the "Monday Night Football'' NFC Wild Card match.
And a wounded Mayfield - who this season has completed 64 percent of his passes for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in a sort of rediscovery of his career - would represent a break.
The Eagles come in limping around as well, with the lingering concerns from Week 18 involving Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown and others. So maybe this will be a "game of attrition'' sort of thing.

To some degree, the walking wounded on both teams might feel good about at least not having to play earlier in the weekend, like on Saturday.
"Luckily,'' Mayfield said, "the blessing is we play on Monday night. An extra day or rest and recovery for me.”
And for anybody who has bruised egos or hurt feelings.
