Eagles WATCH: Jalen Hurts Softball 'Injury'? A Strawberry Stings!
No, it doesn't count as an actual "injury'' - though if you've ever had a "strawberry'' as a result of sliding into a base, you know darn well it counts as something.
Or, more specifically, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts knows darn well it counts as something.
Hurts tore up his leg a little bit during the DeVonta Smith charity softball game over the weekend. The NFL MVP candidate slid into third base - the Eagles might prefer he didn't do that - and while executing a pop-up slide also seemed to sustain a burn to his leg.
Did he come away fine? Of course; these are football players. Indeed, as he crossed home plate, he showed off by dancing "The Griddy'' on his way to the dugout ...
And maybe on his way to some medical attention to pull all the pebbles and the sand out of his hip ... thigh ... buttocks.
This is Hurts' first misstep this offseason, luckily for the Eagles, as he looks more physically fit than ever, has a lucrative extension - a five-year $255 million deal - all locked up with Philly, and captains one of the NFL's Super Bowl favorites.
“My focus has been turning my weaknesses into my strengths,” Hurts recently said when asked about his offseason mentality. “Now somebody is going to ask, what are my weaknesses? That’s for me to know. But, it’s just all about getting better. I think about all the different things last year maybe that I did at a high level and then, to my standards, that I didn’t do at a high level.”
Cool. Let's just don't ask him to slide around in the dirt too many more times this offseason, OK? Because it seems like that might be one of his "secret weaknesses.''
