'Selfish Look!' Cowboys' Michael Irvin Rips Eagles' A.J. Brown
Despite handling their business in Thursday's 34-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings in their home opener, not everyone on Philadelphia Eagles sideline was feeling entirely at home.
And wide receiver A.J. Brown is getting scolded now by Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famee Michael Irvin for his overzealous sideline activity.
“I’ve always told players don’t do that, it’s a selfish look. Especially if you’re winning," said Irvin on FS1's "Undisputed,'' referring to a frustrated Brown seemingly getting in quarterback Jalen Hurts' face during the game.
Some have argued back with Irvin, insisting that there is no "beef'' between the two players. But that's missing Irvin's point; it's about a "look'' that's bad. Hurts himself, however, has sort of put out the fire.
"I think everybody wants to make plays and everybody wants to contribute," Hurts said. "I have no worry about him. He's a great player, a great teammate, a great friend and we will do anything and everything to win."
There are others inside the building, though, when talking about the A.J. Brown dustup, who are insisting on some sort of "privacy'' ... and that is an ignorant take. The game is being played in front of millions of people, including of course Eagles fans who care deeply about the state of the team. (Columnist John McMullen suggests here that all of this is reflective of an "uptight'' Eagles bunch.)
Irvin is right about the "selfish look.'' Hurts is even more right to address it and dismiss it. ... and Eagles fans surely prefer such a thing doesn't become commonplace.
