The Philadelphia Eagles will be opening up the 2024 regular season with an inaugural game in Brazil, but their opponent for the contest has yet to be revealed.

However, during the league's annual meeting in Orlando this week, one NFL executive revealed that the league has narrowed the choices down to two teams.

Per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy told reporters in Orlando that the Cleveland Browns and Packers are the two teams expected to be in contention to play the Eagles in Brazil on Friday, Sept. 6 of opening week next season.

"Packers president Mark Murphy tells local reporters the NFL is deciding between the Packers and Browns to play the Eagles in Brazil," Schneidman tweeted.

The Brazil matchup will count as a home game for Philadelphia. Both Green Bay and Cleveland were already scheduled as home opponents for the Eagles next season, which certainly adds some major support to the insight Murphy provided.

Our own Eagles insider John McMullen reports that he expects the Eagles to save the Packers for a meeting at Lincoln Financial Field. It's easy to see why, as Philly would have an advantage at home in what could prove to be a crucial NFC battle instead of having to face Green Bay in Week 1 on a neutral field.

The NFL will reveal the full 2024 schedule for all teams at a later date.
