BREAKING: Philadelphia Eagles Trade Haason Reddick to New York Jets - Details
The Philadelphia Eagles have finally made a decision on their future with edge rusher Haason Reddick, and that decision is to part ways.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles are trading Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick.
"Trade: Eagles are sending edge-rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick that could be a second, sources tell ESPN," Schefter tweeted. "The 2026 pick becomes a 2nd if Reddick has 67.5% playtime this season and has 10 or more sacks. If not, it’s a 2023 third."
Reddick, 29, was set to enter the final year of his three-year, $40 million deal next season, which resulted in some trade rumors surrounding the veteran defender to begin the offseason. The Eagles reportedly gave Reddick permission to seek a trade, though it's unclear if the deal with the Jets happened as a result of Reddick and his team's trade discussions with other organizations.
The Eagles are now unofficially swapping Reddick for former Jets linebacker Bryce Huff, who signed with Philly at the start of free agency.
At the NFL Combine, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman praised Reddick, but discussed how to balance the present and the future.
“Haason obviously (is) an unbelievable player for the Philadelphia Eagles,” said Roseman. “Local kid, great success story. … Love having Haason.
“I think that anything you're trying to do, you're trying to blend obviously what you're trying to do this year and how you're going to look in the future. I think that's the hardest job. Certainly, (I) don't want to get into any specifics with any conversations with players, but (I) have tremendous respect for the player and the person.”
In two seasons with the Eagles, Reddick has played in 34 games while posting 87 total tackles, 27 sacks, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four passes defended.
