Philadelphia Eagles' Sydney Brown Feels 'Miles Ahead' After ACL Injury
The Philadelphia Eagles' offseason has already been positive, as they’ve once again been aggressive in making roster additions. However, they received more good news recently regarding the health of last year’s third-round pick, Sydney Brown.
In an interview with NBC 10, the now second-year safety, who suffered a torn ACL in the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the New York Giants, offered an update on where he was in the rehab process.
“I feel amazing. I can start working out for you right now if you want to," Brown said. "I feel great... I feel like I’m miles ahead of where I should really be. I will be ready for when the season comes around.”
It is certainly good news for the Eagles, as they are set to officially kick off their offseason program on April 15. They’ll only be limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehab before they kick off OTAs in late May.
Although Brown feels he is ahead of schedule, it is still unlikely that he’ll be able to participate in any on-the-field workouts soon.
However, progress is good news nonetheless for the Eagles, considering the former third-round pick out of Illinois played a prominent role last season. Brown started in six of his 14 appearances during his rookie season and totaled 45 tackles, one for a loss, one forced fumble, and one interception, which he returned 99 yards for a touchdown versus the Arizona Cardinals.
After undergoing surgery to repair his torn ACL, Brown hopes to get back on the field as soon as possible, where he’ll find competition for a starting role at safety alongside Reed Blankenship from free-agent addition C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
