'Great Attitude!' Atlanta Falcons' Arthur Blank Praises Kirk Cousins' Leadership
Quarterback is the most important position in football on the field, and arguably off of it as well.
As the one leading the huddle and relaying plays to the rest of the offense, the quarterback is usually a major leader for any given team. While it's not always the case that a quarterback is one of a team's leaders, it tends to happen far more often than not.
In that regard, new Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is making quite the first impression on his new team. During an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, team owner Arthur Blank gushed about how Cousins has taken charge in his first few weeks with the Falcons.
"He's got a great attitude, he's got all the intangibles you want, he's got the tangibles you want, he's focused on winning, he's probably called every player on our roster, he's made good connections," Blank said.
In February 2023, Cousins won the Bart Starr Award, which "awards active NFL players who demonstrate outstanding character, integrity and leadership in their football careers and personal lives." The 36-year-old called it an "absolute honor" to win the award named after the Hall of Fame quarterback.
"Obviously team awards are what we play this game for, but of the individual awards I've ever been able to win, this is far and away the most special to me," Cousins said in 2023, per Vikings.com.
More than a year later and now with a new team, Cousins is still doing everything he can to lead those around him. The Falcons are hopeful that Cousins' leadership, and his play on the field, can finally bring them the success that's eluded them for so long.
