'So Boring!': Falcons' Arthur Smith vs. Titans' Peter Skoronski in Draft Meeting

Tennessee Titans first-round offensive tackle Peter Skoronski detailed his pre-draft meeting with the Atlanta Falcons, during which coach Arthur Smith said his answers were "so boring."
In this story:

The process ahead of the NFL Draft is notoriously long, with prospects going through the Combine, pro days, visits, workouts and more.

While certainly strenuous for the players, it's also exhausting for the teams and, in particular, the coaches, who don't actually grow involved in the evaluation process until after the season ends.

With that comes plenty of travel, film and especially interviews - some of which can become repetitive ... just ask Atlanta Falcons coach Arthur Smith.

The Falcons held a visit with Northwestern offensive lineman Peter Skoronski, later drafted No. 11 overall by the Tennessee Titans. Atlanta was viewed as a potential landing spot for Skoronski due to its vacancy at left guard and the natural manner in which his skill set would translate.

However, the meeting between Smith and Skoronski wasn't exactly the latter's favorite, he revealed.

“The head coach was on me the second I got in there,” Skoronski said, via The Athletic. “I was giving them generic answers to their questions, and he said, ‘You’re really boring me right now. Your answers are so boring.’ The whole meeting, he kept looking at his computer.

"I was kind of laughing to myself and said, ‘Sorry, I don’t know what you want me to do. I’m answering you honestly.’”

As things played out, the Falcons drafted Texas running back Bijan Robinson at No. 8 overall, thus passing on Skoronski, and traded up in the second round to selected Syracuse's Matthew Bergeron to play left guard.

Skoronski noted that he was warned about "abrasive" interviews, with The Athletic noting Smith's approach was "undoubtedly by design" in order to see the reaction.

Nonetheless, the meeting evidently didn't leave Skoronski feeling particularly great about the Falcons, as he singled that out as one of his less comfortable interviews.

Of course, Skoronski admitted to giving "generic" answers, which Smith likely heard plenty of during the process and was searching to find the genuine side of the All-Big Ten performer; the "real" character is part of what drew the Falcons to Robinson during their visit with him pre-draft.

There are often stories that come out after the fact of unusual visits, and while there's nothing too far off about this particular encounter, the choice of words is noteworthy - and far from a "boring" development.
