Atlanta Falcons' Bijan Robinson Praises RBs for Stepping Up vs. Tampa Bay Bucs: 'My Brothers!'
NFL fans saw Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson take the field in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium, but he only appeared in the box score with one carry for three yards.
But while answering questions about his limited action, Robinson instead sang the praises of fellow running backs Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson, who came up big for the Falcons in a contest that came down to a game-winning field goal.
"My head was hurting. I was just trying to see how I was gonna feel on the field, and I was just going down,” Robinson said after the game. “Talked to Coach Smith, and he was like 'I don't wanna risk anything.' We got Tyler, CP and they did really well today. Those are my brothers. But yeah, it was just really tough this morning.”
Allgeier picked up where he left off in Week 1 by putting together his best overall performance since his two-touchdown day in the season-opening 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. On Sunday, he posted 21 carries for 59 yards and three catches for a career-high 53 receiving yards.
For Patterson, finding a role this season has been hard to come by just one year removed from a nine-touchdown season. But on Sunday, he had his best game of the campaign by tallying 10 carries for 56 yards after receiving just three offensive touches headed into the game.
As for Robinson, Sunday's three-yard game was a sudden and alarming lack of usage for one of the league's most exciting young players, who turned out to be under the weather. However, the Falcons never listed Robinson on the injury report with an illness, which is now causing the NFL to take action in order to find out why. Plenty of bettors are angry, too.
Robinson will get his next chance to take the field when the Falcons visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
