'He Ain't Lying!' Falcons Ex Calvin Ridley Praised By Sanu
Following the 2020 season, former Atlanta Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley was talked about in the same conversation as the NFL's elite. After recording 1,374 yards, 90 receptions and nine touchdowns, the former first-round pick was ranked the No. 3 receiver prior to the 2021 season by Draft Network.
However, Ridley suited up in just five games the following year before receiving a season-long suspension in 2022 and being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in November.
The next time Ridley suits up in an NFL game, it will have been nearly 36 months since the last time he amassed 100 receiving yards, but one his Jaguars teammates believe the 28-year-old is still one of the NFL's best.
"You just watch him out there, he's a mismatch nightmare," Jacksonville receiver Jamal Agnew said. "In my opinion I don't think anybody can guard him in the league."
And former Atlanta receiver Mohamed Sanu, who spent two seasons as Ridley's teammate from 2018-2019, wholeheartedly agreed with Agnew's comment, stating: "he ain't lying."
Prior to his suspension, Ridley took time away from football to focus on his mental health and recover from a fractured foot suffered in 2020. And when he was on the field that season, it looked more like a shell of the player who was named an All Pro the year prior.
With it being almost two years since the last time Ridley played on Sundays, the Jaguars receiver has the opportunity to be that "mismatch nightmare" once again.
