WATCH: Atlanta Falcons vs. Jacksonville Jaguars 'Toy Story' Game Broadcast Makes Debut
Today's game between the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars will be going "to infinity and beyond" on Disney+ and ESPN+.
Running alongside a typical broadcast of Sunday's game in London will be a fully-animated broadcast on the streaming platforms, set to take place in the Toy Story universe.
Branded as Toy Story Funday Football, this version of the broadcast will take place in "Andy's Room," utilizing the NFL's Next Gen Stats and on-field tracking technology. This will allow the players on the field to appear as animated in a live representation of the actual action in the game.
Here's an early look at the broadcast ...
Falcons head coach Arthur Smith is intrigued by this new development in technology and how it provides yet another facet into the consumption of football media.
"I think it was a good movie when they made it," Smith said. "My kids like it. It'll be fascinating to see what it looks like."
Ironically, this isn't the first time that Toy Story has broken new ground in technology. Released in 1995, the movie was Pixar's first feature film, and it was also the first feature film to be entirely computer-animated. Now, that history will be put on display once again, only this time in the National Football League.
The Toy Story Funday Football broadcast can be watched on ESPN+. The Falcons and Jaguars are currently tied following the game's first drive. You can catch drive-by-drive coverage with out live updates blog, which can be found here.
