Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has a new life in The Motor City after being viewed as an average quarterback that couldn't get the job done in Los Angeles.

The Atlanta Falcons (2-0) are set to hit the road and play at Detroit (1-1) this Sunday, and they are not taking the threat that Goff poses lightly even after the loss to Seattle. When asked about just how good Goff is, and what he brings to the table, assistant coach Jerry Gray spoke quite highly of the former No. 1 overall pick going as far to say that Goff is a championship caliber quarterback.

"They’ve got a Super Bowl quarterback over there and then, they just drafted some young guys at tail back, so they’ve done a good job of filling that roster with skill," Gray said. "And their offensive line has always been good. The thing that we got to make sure to do is limit explosive plays, make them throw the ball in front of us because they love explosive plays. Going against those guys the last three years, if you eliminate the explosive plays, you keep the game where it’s supposed to, you have a chance to win. But if you let it get out of hand and they get explosive plays, they can run just about anything they want to in their offense.”

Through two games, the Lions quarterback has been as precise as they come, completing 71.4 percent of his passes en route to throwing for over 570 yards. His four touchdowns to one interception also shows just how rare it is that he makes a costly mistake.

According to ESPN, the Falcons are the underdogs in this game as their Matchup Predictor gives them a 44.5 percent chance of winning the game. Atlanta would love for another great performance from the defense to get them to 3-0, and they will likely need one if they want to slow down Goff.

The Falcons and Lions kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday inside Ford Field.
