Falcons & Cowboys Icon Deion Sanders: ‘We Coming!’ (With Nike Shoe)

Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders knows something about marketing, dating way back to his Falcons days. So … along comes a Nike tease …
In this story:

When it comes to marketing and promotion, has there ever been a time in the career of now-Colorado head coach Deion Sanders when he was not “coming” assertively?

And so here we go, with the Pro Football Hall of Famer teasing on social media what seems to be a re-release of his trademark Nike Air Diamond Turf shoe with a post on Instagram.

"'We Coming' @nike #CoachPrime," he wrote as the caption on his IG.

Back in 1993, as “Neon Deion” was in the midst of making his high-profile moves from the Atlanta Falcons to the San Francisco 49ers to the Dallas Cowboys, the Nike Air Diamond Turf shoe was introduced to a rabid football public.

“Diamond Turf”? Of course, because at the time Sanders held the status as one of the greatest dual-sport athletes on the planet as he played at the highest possible level in the NFL while also performing as a Major League Baseball standout as well.

This is not the first time the shoe has been re-released. But as Deion apparently is going back into business with Nike, the timing for another go at it seems wise, as “Coach Prime” has risen into the national spotlight as he works through health issues (trying to avoid a possible anputation of his foot) and heads into his first season leading the Colorado Buffaloes football program.

But as a throwback? Note that in this most recent post, Sanders is posing with the original red, white and black color scheme … inspired of course by his thrilling time wearing those colors with his original team, the Atlanta Falcons.
