Falcons Sleeper Team for Free Agent WR DeAndre Hopkins?

Former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is looking for a new team, could the Atlanta Falcons be in the mix?
In this story:

The Atlanta Falcons have not been afraid to revamp their roster this offseason.

Following back-to-back 7-10 campaigns, Atlanta has went out and bulked up on the defensive side of the ball by signing safety Jessie Bates III, defensive ends Calais Campbell, David Onyemata and trading for cornerback Jeff Okudah.

However, for a team that hasn't been afraid to spend money on defense, could they go after one of the NFL's best receivers over the past decade?

ESPN recently compiled a list of the best fits for free agent wideout DeAndre Hopkins with Atlanta falling under a "wild-card team."

"Atlanta has been unafraid to spend this offseason while enjoying the fruits of a quarterback on a rookie contract," ESPN writes. "Its pass-catching core is young, but the presence of Hopkins could spice up Arthur Smith's offense. Like Cleveland, Atlanta GM Terry Fontenot has aggressively pursued signings and trades over the past three months."

Hopkins (30), a five-time Pro Bowler over his ten-year NFL career, would instantly add a veteran pass-catcher to a young receiving core of Drake London (21) and Kyle Pitts (22), alongside second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder (23).

With the Cardinals eating Hopkins $22.6 million dead cap hit, it is unclear how much the three-time All Pro will be searching in free agency.

But with Atlanta currently holding $10 million in cap space to according to Spotrac - and the potential for more - a Hopkins signing is certainly not out of the equation.
