BREAKING: Falcons Select Bijan Robinson in First Round of NFL Draft
After months of speculation, the Atlanta Falcons submitted their pick at No. 8 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Falcons used their first-round selection on Texas running back Bijan Robinson.
Per SI's Draft Bible, Robinson is "an elite running back prospect without any athletic limitations. His size, agility, lateral and linear burst, balance, power, and well-rounded pass-catching are all special."
Robinson, 21, is coming off a stellar junior season for the Longhorns, earning unanimous All-American honors after running for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging over six yards per carry. He was also a threat in the passing game, hauling in 19 passes for 314 yards and two scores.
In Atlanta, Robinson joins a run-heavy Falcons offense that finished third in the league in rushing a season ago, led by Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson.
Allgeier broke the franchise record for rushing yards by a rookie with 1,035 this past season, but Robinson is considered a "special" talent who can be utilized as both a pass catcher and runner.
The Falcons are aiming to stack talent around quarterback Desmond Ridder, and with Robinson, they've done exactly that, adding arguably the draft's most dynamic and explosive playmaker.
The Falcons are on the clock again at No. 44 pick in the second round.
