NFL Schedule: Falcons WR Drake 'London' Set for International Debut
The NFL is set to announce its schedule for the 2023 season tomorrow, but the league announced in advance that the Atlanta Falcons have a captivating matchup at Wembley Stadium in London.
In Week 4, Atlanta will face off against the 2022 AFC South Divisional champion Jacksonville Jaguars in an international matchup sure to highlight Falcons' second-year wide receiver Drake London.
As a rookie, Atlanta's towering 6-5 receiver proved to be as advertised when the team opted to select him with the No. 8 overall pick. With a score of 83.2, PFF graded London as their top-performing rookie wideout over the likes of even New York Jets Offensive Rookie of The Year winner Garrett Wilson.
Though not having the most impressive stat line amongst his peers, London still performed well, recording 72 receptions for four touchdowns and 866 yards, despite the Falcons' offense being focused on the run game.
While the team will undoubtedly still be centered on its rushing attack following its selection of highly touted running back Bijan Robinson in this year's draft, the Jaguars pose an opportunity for London to break out in front of fans whom he represents by namesake.
Jacksonville ranked as the 12th-stingiest rushing defense in the league last season compared to its passing defense, which allowed for the sixth most yards in the league.
London's big body should prove to be a matchup nightmare for Jaguars No. 1 cornerback Darious Williams, who stands eight inches shorter at 5-9 and is graded as a 61.4 by PFF for his uninspiring play last season.
When London travels across the pond next season, expect him to feel right at home as he exploits Jacksonville's secondary en route to a potential breakout game.
